Korean Community Services
For over two decades, the Korean Community Services
division of KCS has worked in the community by
providing such programs as job training, legal
aid, and relief work. At present, Korean Community
Services remains a community based agency whose
mission is to provide information and resources
which enhance the lives of individual community
members and in turn, enables a healthier Southern
California Korean American Community.
Programs
- Outpatient Counseling
Korean Community Services licensed counselors
offer outpatient counseling to the Korean Community. In recent years, referrals have come from Social
Services, the Health Care Agency and the Probation
Department.
- Referrals and Assistance
Experienced staff answer dozens of phone calls
per day on a variety of questions affecting Korean
immigrants in Southern California. Our capable
staff assist individuals by answering questions
on a variety of issues affecting Korean Immigrants.
- Prevention Programs
KC services has prevention
programs that enhance the public health and
safety of Southern California Korean Americans
through the Tobacco Free Communities Project of
the Orange Community Health Care Agency and
Community Actions Traffic Safety Project of UC
Irvine.
- Anger Management
Anger management is provided to Asian language
speaking participants who are court-mandated. The course is designed to teach the identification
of anger, understanding of behavior and skills
for developing a support system and using appropriate
techniques to manage anger.
- Citizenship Classes
Citizenship classes are offered at minimum cost
to Korean elderly who anticipate on being interviewed
by the INS in order to receive citizenship. A
native English speaking volunteer leads conversational
English classes weekly.
